A message from Ms. Rendon
Dear Whittier Students, Parents & Community;
Welcome to Whittier School where we provide a high-quality academic and social-emotional foundation to push students to excel in school and in life.
Whittier is a safe, positive, productive environment where teachers love teaching and students love learning. Students, staff, and families work alongside one another to lead students to high levels of achievement both academically and social-emotionally. Our vision is to equip our students with the critical thinking skills needed to make a positive impact on our school, our community, and our world.
We encourage you to join our school community and take part in our numerous programs that focus on building the social and academic foundation needed for students to attain high levels of success. In addition to learning the core concepts in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, we teach students how to think critically and apply this learning to the real world. Furthermore, through initiatives such as Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) and Playworks we develop the whole child and teach students how to successfully collaborate with peers. For a preview of these programs and more, please review them under the section titled “programs” on this website.
Located in downtown Phoenix on 16th Street between Thomas Road and McDowell Avenue, our school is listed on the National Historic Register. As principal, I invite you to visit our beautiful campus and schedule a tour. My door is always open to parents, students, and community members interested in learning more about Whittier School.
