Sports

At Whittier School, we are fully committed to providing extracurricular activities to extend student learning and provide a variety of programs. Our athletic program is an example and provides students a variety of after school sports opportunities where students can compete in a safe environment and gain life-long skills, experiences and memories. Embedded in our athletic program is a strong focus on developing good citizens through the “Six Pillars of Character.” Each week, every team focuses on one of the six pillars that include:

  1. Trustworthiness
  2. Respect
  3. Responsibility
  4. Fairness
  5. Caring
  6. Citizenship

Fifth and Sixth grade students have the opportunity to participate in the following sports:

  • The Hoopsters Club – Boys Basketball
  • The Volley Club – Girls Volleyball
  • The Young Sluggers Club – Co-Ed Slow Pitch
  • The Kickers Club – Co-Ed Soccer

Seventh and eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in the following sports:

  • Co-ed Soccer
  • Co-ed Slow Pitch
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Volleyball

One beloved Whittier tradition is the student-staff sports games. At the end of each competitive sports season, the students challenge the staff to a final game. We compete in basketball, volleyball, soccer, and softball. We encourage parents to join in these events either by participating or by watching the game and cheering on students and staff.
